How It Works
Well, the word combination “infrared light” is probably familiar for everybody. Somebody heard about infrared rays on TV, somebody remembers classes of science or have read about it in science-fiction stories. As it were, the notion of infrared light relating to light spectrums and wavelengths is likely to be quite fare from your understanding. Therefore the way infrared heaters work is somewhat vague to you. But that isn’t a problem!
You definitely know that infrared as well as ultraviolet lights are invisible for people. This is the core of the difficulty in understanding how do infra-red heaters work. You turn on your infra red heater and it is getting warmer, is it some kind of magic? No, it’s just science. Infrared heaters produce infrared light and our skin and clothes absorb it. Absorbing the light we absorb the warmth. That’s all about the scheme of operation of infra-red heaters.
In general, there are different types of infra red heaters:
Infrared heaters that consist of three elements (infrared light bulbs, a heat exchanger and a fan) work as follows: the infrared bulbs produce light and the heat exchanger produce heat when the fan blows air onto it.
Others infra red heaters produce light that is directed into some area and when the light reaches objects the heat is produced.
Regarding the fuel source there are electric infra-red heaters, propane infra-red heaters and natural gas infra-red heaters.
In respect of materials used to produce infrared heaters there is no special peculiarities. Some heaters are of ceramic, some (portable ones) consist of different materials.
Overall, this is it! The essential information on how infrared heaters work is now at your disposal. Please be attentive in your further research, there are certain peculiarities in each sphere of infrared heaters use.
